Free Water Checkup vs Specialized Laboratory Analysis

Water Testing Image

If you have any concerns about your home water and are interested in having it tested for contaminants, but not sure how to go about it, then you have come to the right place. In this post we will be discussing the differences between the two types of water tests that can be conducted, the free water checkup or the specialized laboratory analysis. Let’s take a closer look at each.

Westfair Water Systems “Free” Water Checkup and Consultation

For our “free at home water checkup” we will send one of our certified technicians right to your home to test your water for hardness, pH, iron, copper, chlorine, and TDS levels in your water. The method for testing your water is quick and simple. Our technicians test on site and provide you with specific recommendations for the best water equipment to solve any water issues that may arise. When conducting a free water checkup, it is common for homeowners who have a well to have hard water. For residents who have municipal water, their water frequently contains excess amounts of chlorine that may lead to a bad taste and smell. This is because the city adds chlorine to the water to eliminate bacteria and other organic organisms. To find out if any of these problems pertain to your water contact Westfair Water Systems at (914)-241-2261.

Specialized Laboratory Analysis

Unlike the “free at home water checkup” by Westfair Water Systems, the specialized laboratory analysis will test for specific contaminants in your water. The laboratory will test for, but not limited to: bacteria, pesticides, viruses, secondary drinking water contaminants, total metal digested, and volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). Fees will be charged based on the type of testing requested. A type of laboratory test, known as The Westchester County Profile Test, is popular with people who are selling their homes in Westchester County and is required by New York State to get the water tested before a final sale. A Westfair Water Systems technician will collect the water sample from your home and deliver the sample to the laboratory with all the necessary paperwork. The finalized report will take approximately 12-14 days to be delivered to Westfair Water Systems, and then relayed to you by phone or email. Pending the lab results and if any of the tests should fail, we can assist in remediations that may be necessary by law.
